# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • Theyre as crispy as deep-fried fries but you dont have to deal with a pot of scalding oil or that lingering fried smell in your kitchen.
  • You can eat a whole serving without feeling weighed down, which means I never feel guilty going back for seconds.
  • Russet potatoes are cheap and forgiving, so even if you cut them unevenly theyll still turn out delicious.
02 -
  • Skipping the soak is tempting when youre hungry, but Ive done it and the fries turned out limp and disappointing every single time.
  • Overcrowding the basket traps steam and you end up with pale, soft fries instead of the crispy ones you were hoping for.
  • If your air fryer runs hot, check the fries a few minutes early because Ive accidentally burnt a batch by walking away too long.
03 -
  • Cut your fries as evenly as possible so they cook at the same rate, otherwise some will burn while others stay pale.
  • If you want them extra crispy, add 2 more minutes to the cook time and watch them closely at the end.
  • A light mist of cooking spray halfway through can boost the crispiness even more, especially if your fries seem dry.
